Lesmurdie Primary School is going through an exciting transformation. From October 2021 to November 2023 we are replacing our outdated buildings with modern, purpose-built facilities.

The new facilities will provide our students with an ideal learning environment, offering them a great start to life. The redevelopment will benefit current and future generations of Lesmurdie children.

New Design

The school has a new design to fit our local environment and best meet the needs of our students, teachers and community.

Our buildings will open onto a central lawned area, providing the children with a safe and inclusive space to play and learn.

The children will continue to have access to nature play areas and enjoy views of the bush reserve.

Our younger students will have a dedicated early childhood learning area – the perfect environment to start their education.

We will also have access to a new shared-use oval on Ray Owen Reserve.

Facilities

Stage 1 (October 2021 – December 2022):

  • Two teaching blocks for our early childhood and junior students
  • Purpose-built early childhood play area
  • Covered Assembly area
  • Hardcourts

Stage 2 (February 2023 – November 2023):

  • Administration block
  • Dental Therapy centre (currently located at Walliston PS)
  • Teaching Block for our senior students

  • A central lawn area

The existing art and music rooms and library will remain.

Teaching & Learning

Plans are in place to maintain a safe learning environment and minimise disruption to teaching and learning.

  • Fences are in place to separate the children from the construction site.
  • The main entry points for contractors will be the staff carpark off Sanderson Street and an entry off Willoughby Road.
  • Temporary buildings will be provided as additional classrooms during Stage 2.
  • Demolition of the old buildings will take place during the 2022/23 summer school holidays by licenced professionals.
