Stage 2 buildings delivered

After almost two years, the redevelopment is almost complete. It is an exciting time for the school as we settle into the new teaching block and Administration building. Landscapers are now working on the garden beds and planting trees. By the time we return in the new year, the central lawn area will be well established and our new playground will have been installed.

Lesmurdie Primary School has undergone an exciting transformation. Since October 2021 the school has been completely redeveloped,  replacing our outdated buildings with modern, purpose-built facilities.

Our new facilities provide our students with an ideal learning environment, offering them a great start to life. The redevelopment will benefit current and future generations of Lesmurdie children.

New Design

The school has a new design to fit our local environment and best meet the needs of our students, teachers and community.

Our buildings now open onto a central lawned area, providing the children with a safe and inclusive space to play and learn.

The children still  have access to nature play areas and enjoy views of the bush reserve.

Our younger students have a dedicated early childhood learning area – the perfect environment to start their education.

We also retain access to Ray Owen Reserve, as a shared-use oval.

Facilities

Stage 1 (October 2021 – December 2022):

  • Two teaching blocks for our early childhood and junior students
  • Purpose-built early childhood play area
  • Covered Assembly area
  • Hardcourts

Stage 2 (February 2023 – November 2023):

  • Administration block
  • Dental Therapy centre (currently located at Walliston PS)
  • Teaching Block for our senior students
  • Staff room
  • Board room
  • A central lawn area

The existing art and music rooms and library remain. We have repurposed the original music room for our Italian Languages program. Our art room will receive a commonwealth government funded science upgrade in 2024, making this a truly multi-purpose facility.

Teaching & Learning

Throughout the redevelopment, we have maintained Throughout the redevelopment, we have maintained our focus on what matters most, the children and their education. The staff have maintained a clear focus on continuity of the curriculum whilst simultaneously progressign our school improvment agenda. The one-year return visit by the school review team, in august 2023, congratulated us on our professional commitment in leading a "highly scaffolded, clearly articulated and transparent process in improving teaching quality and student achievment and progress". This is a considerable achievement given the addiitonal demands of the build and is testament to the dedication of the staff and the support of our community.

Dental Therapy

Throughout the redevelopment the Dental Therapy operated out of Walliston Primary School. We welcome back our Dental Therapy service in 2024.
