The school has a deserved reputation for excellence in education, as evidenced by our success in the the Science Teachers Association of Western Australia (STAWA) Science Talent Search and the Governor’s School STEM Award. We were awarded Primary School of the Year (STAWA) for nine consecutive years (2011 – 2019). Our students are encouraged to be innovative and creative thinkers through our rich and varied curriculum offerings which include a highly successful Italian Language program for all students from Kindy to Year 6.
There is a strong recycling program in the school which sees classes commit to an annual sustainability or environmental focus that builds understanding of how we can minimise our impact on the earth. Our students are encouraged to raise their awareness of other countries and cultures and deepen their global learning through our sister school relationship with Amphet Phnom Primary School in Cambodia. Each year our School Leaders engage the student body in fundraising initiatives to support the students and staff of Amphet Phnom Primary School.
The school redevelopment will deliver, over the next two years, a brand new, high quality facility heralding a new era for our school. The new buildings will surround a central lawn area, providing a safe and inclusive space for students to play and learn. Our students will continue their strong connection with nature with views of the natural bushland reserve from their classrooms, a nature play area and natural vegetation throughout the school site. The redevelopment presents a unique opportunity to leverage the existing strengths of the school culture and harness the support of the community to make a great school even better.
This is an opportunity to build Lesmurdie PS into a school of the future. A school that supports our children to grow into young people capable of making a positive difference in the world through their engagement, action and contribution.
