Lesmurdie Primary School Charity Games Day

On Friday, 19th October 2012, Lesmurdie Primary School held a Charity Games Day to raise money for the Cancer Council of WA. The Year 7 students in Room 5 planned the event, organised the activities, and facilitated the day, as part of their learning in Technology and Enterprise in Term Two.

Students across the school, from Pre-primary to Year 7, participated in a series of tabloid style games for a small donation of $2 per student. Money was also raised through a raffle and refreshment stall, catered for entirely by the Year 7 students. Professional face painting was also offered for a further donation, with this service being donated by Mel from ‘Put on a Happy Face’.

The support and enthusiasm across the entire school meant we had a very busy and successful day raising just over $1,500 for the Cancer Council of WA. A great day was had by all and most importantly, the students in Year 7 were able to learn about the importance of community service, and appreciate the amount of effort, teamwork and coordination that is required to organise such an event.
